Boomers Are Spreading Out

Recent research by the National Association of Home Builders suggests that the geographic distribution of adults 55 and over is spread out evenly across the country. It used to be older adults reached retirement age and would relocate to Florida or the West Coast, but not anymore. 43.9 million housholds are headed by someone 55 or older, accounting for nearly 38% of all US housholds. NAHB (National Association of Home Builders) forecasts that the share of 55+ housholds will grow every year through 2019, when this demographic will  account fore 45% of all US Households.

Global Friendship House at East Beach Homearama

Coastal Living at East Beach Homearama 2012

We can’t wait to see a house we sold to a buyer client at the upcoming  2012 Homearama at East Beach  scheduled to take place October 13th-28th.  The house will benefit Global Friendship House (a future International house close to Old Dominion University affiliated with Global Student Friendship). This is the only house that will highlight international and global cultures from around the world.  

Proceeds from the sale of the home will be used toward construction of a residence and activity center for international students at Old Dominion University.  

On August 29th, students participating in the dedication of the Global Friendship House  represented ODU students from Nepal, Austria, China, The Netherlands, Ukraine, India, and Indonesia. These international students joined Norfolk Mayor Paul Fraim, Tidewater Builders Association President Sam Cohen, Builder Scott Strickland, East Beach Company’s Bart Frye, Dr. Ellen Neufeldt, ODU Vice President for Student Enrollment and Engagement Services, and Mr. Rich Hardison, the chairman of Global Friendship House board of directors at the dedication of The Global House in August.

More than 100,000 visitors will come to this big event. Come out and be inspired…
